Kenny Wong
KENNY WONG is a Vancouver-based actor, writer, and violinist with a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from McGill University. As a writer, Kenny recently signed a shopping agreement with Incendo Media Inc for his crime drama TV series, Divided. The pilot script was a former Top-25 finalist at the WeScreenplay Television Competition. Last year, Kenny completed the BIPOC TV and Film’s TV Writer’s Lab with mentor Jeremy Boxen (Orphan Black), focusing on his original fantasy cop series, ‘Breathe’. Kenny was also selected for the 2022 Banff-Netflix Diversity of Voices cohort, in addition to being one of twenty-five chosen for their exclusive pitch program. His feature film script, Dystonia, based on his life as a violinist struggling with a neurological movement disorder, was the recipient of the Telefilm New Voices Award from the Toronto Screenwriting Conference in 2017. Since then, it has been a finalist at the Golden Script Competition and the Oaxaca Script Competition, as well as being shortlisted for the National Screen Institute’s ‘Features First Program’. Attached to the project as Executive Producers are BIPOC TV and Film founder, Nathalie Younglai (writer/co-executive producer of Coroner), and Kenny’s Banff-Netflix mentor, Lorne Price (former distributor of Sphere Media and Wazabi Films), As a filmmaker, Kenny produced, wrote, and acted in a concept short film of Dystonia through grants from Jeunes Volontaires and TakingItGlobal. The film went on to premiere at the Toronto Shorts International Film Festival and win ‘Best Drama Short’ at the Canadian Diversity Film Fest. More recently, Kenny wrote, directed, and co-produced a one-take-style thriller short film, entitled ‘Reunion’, set to release in 2024.
