Romy Ferguson

My name is Romy Ferguson and I’m studying since October 2020 Film and Audiovisual Publishing at the University in Mainz. Since 2017 I regularly shoot short films with friends and produced several projects during my time at university. In October 2018 I had the opportunity to be the 3rd Assistant Director for the commercial “Loos et rullen” of the Luxembourgish company “Mobilitéit”, which was directed by Luxembourgish director Paloma Lommel. Prior to my studies in Mainz, I studied from October 2019 until July 2020 Film- and Television Production/Directing in Dortmund. During that time, I gained a lot of experience and skills in the different aspects and steps involved in a film production. In summer 2020 I was selected to take part at the “International series workshop” of the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen in Munich. From 11th to 23rd February 2023, I was a production assistant in the location department during the shooting of the second season of the Luxembourgish web series “The Inside of the Outsider”. Thanks to that I had the chance to be the second assistant director at the shooting of the music video “Fonken” of the Luxembourgish artist Maale Gars. For the Lost Weekend Halloween Edition 2023 I was the First assistant director for Philippe Meyrer’s film “Kirke”. I finished her Bachelor of Arts degree in March 2024 and afterwards want to do a master's degree in directing, so I can direct the feature film I have written one day. In March 2024 I had the opportunity to direct the film “Nocturnal Masquerade” for the 48-hour film challenge “Lost Weekend” during the Luxembourg City Film festival and the film won the best sound award. Project wise “Ghosts in the woods” is the most ambitious and most professional short film I have shot so far, and I hope that the film will give me the opportunity to work on more projects in the future.
