THE HESS

The story of Vlad begins from a young age with his friend Fafa. Together, they quickly realized that Vlad's legs were their greatest resource for making money. It started with races in malls and one-on-one bets, sprinting 100 meters against a wall. Vlad had big dreams: he wanted to become a professional athlete, running with a bib in front of stands full of supporters. However, his complicated family situation prevented him from dreaming too big. Vlad, a young Roma immigrant, lives alone with his father, a pathological gambler in the world of horse racing. Determined not to follow in his father's footsteps, he rejects this world that led him to ruin. Financially struggling to pursue his passion for athletics, even though he is willing to work hard to achieve it. Fortunately, Fafa has an idea to help Vlad realize his dream: he wants to enter the world of clandestine sprints organized by Markus, the local godfather. But their lack of experience quickly puts them in trouble, and Vlad ends up in debt. Their situation worsens when they fall under Markus's control, who decides to make Vlad his new racehorse. He finds himself caught in a vicious cycle and must now get involved in Markus's affairs, all while hiding this situation from his father and Aminata, his girlfriend. Aminata is the only person who truly believes in him and does everything to help him achieve his dreams. Despite everything, Vlad continues to run as fast as before. But he knows that if he wants to get out, he must confront Markus alone. He must take his destiny into his own hands and find a way out of this dangerous situation. The question is whether he is ready to risk his life to achieve his dream of becoming a professional athlete or if he should give up and look for another path to success.
