Manfred Eder had suffered from chronic asthma since he was 18 months old. His whole life he took strong medicine like cortisones, to compete the asthma. At times the side effects were as bad as the sickness, Manfred says. When a doctor told him in his thirties, that he would never get rid of asthma and he had to live with it, he had enough of it. Deep inside Manfred arose the wish to change his life. Shortly after he decided to participate in and finish an Ironman competition: A combination of 180km cycling, a Marathon and 4km swimming. All despite of his chronic respiratory illness.
