Anthony Wonke
Anthony Wonke is an Oscar-nominated, double EMMY and triple BAFTA-winning director & producer. Known for his original feature documentaries Dettori (SKY), The Director and the Jedi ( LUCAS FILM & DISNEY), Being AP (BBC FILMS), Fire in the Night (BBC) and Ronaldo (UNIVERSAL), and documentary series The Tower: A Tale of Two Cities (BBC), Wonke has extensive experience working in the Middle East. He has made several films in and about the region, including Children on the Frontline (C4) and The Battle for Marjah (HBO). In early 2024, he will be directing In the Shadows, written by Ursula Rani Sarma, produced by the Oscar-nominated Sleeper Films (The Favourite), and starring Jasmine Jobson as Ramla Ali, the first Somali British professional boxing champion. Anthony is premiering two theatrical documentaries in 2024 and has two US-based drama series in development with Sleeper Films, Altitude and Oscar-nominated Cambridge Pictures (Loving Vincent) Wonke’s work has been shown at film festivals worldwide, including in the US, Canada, Asia, Europe, and the UK. It has also been screened on Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Sky, BBC, Channel 4, HBO, PBS, and Arte.
